Powder free vinyl gloves.

There has been some rapid changes taking place in the surgical equipments and other few other hospital supplies. I would take this opportunity to discuss only the disposable gloves here.

The first disposable glove was used in 1964. Medical gloves are traditionally made of latex and are powdered with cornstarch to lubricate the gloves for better grip and they are easy to slip on.

Prior to using cornstarch powder, Lycopodium powder was used. Later, since cornstarch was also believed to halt the healing process, non-powdered gloves were preferred.

Another development is the replacement of latex gloves by vinyl gloves that are easier to slip on. These vinyl gloves were further developed as powder-free vinyl loves that are cost effective and also provided better grip. They are also easy to slip on and slip off.
