Why the epiphone nighthawk is called the cousin of Les Paul guitar?

Epiphone nighthawk
Epiphone nighthawk

I wonder why the epiphone nighthawk is considered as the cousin of Les Paul guitar which hit the guitar market more than 100 years ago in 1952. I read that while the Les Paul was one of the Gibson’s that had seen more versions than any other guitar, the epiphone nighthawk was last seen in 1999, just six years after it was launched.
Ask a veteran guitarist about his preference and he would say without blinking an eye, “a 22 frets classic”.  There are several comparisons between a 22 fret and a 24 fret guitars but the choice of the populace seems to be ’22 fret guitar’.
The epiphone nighthawk was a classic one with 22 frets but with a 25 and a half inches scale. Built with a combination of rosewood and mahogany, its features were selected based on the choice of highly respected guitar players of the yesteryears.

The Guitar Center knows more about guitars than any other guitar seller.

The best price for Steve Vai signed Ibanez Jem guitar.

Ever since I showed him the picture of this (see below) gorgeous guitar made by Ibanez Jem, my son downloaded the picture from the Internet and pasted it on his bedroom wall with a note underneath it reading, “I would to cradle you one day”.

He told me that his guitar master bought Ibanez jem at musicians friend last year and he was allowed to cradle it just for a few seconds and not allowed to strike the string. He was very excited that day. Since it is very pricey, he resolved to save money with renewed vigor.

Without his knowledge, I used to stuff a few small notes in his wallet now and then so that he could realize his dream soon.

When counted his savings yesterday, he was still short of $300. Way to go my dear son!

Snakebyte electric guitar.

It is a very odd name for an electric guitar-isn’t it? Look at the picture below of this ESP guitar. Though there is nothing snake like, probably the venomous active humbuckers tell the tale.

My son is planning to buy this and waiting to see if someone would buy his old guitar. He read somewhere that esp guitars come in odd shapes and want to get one. He has been reading reviews of ESP guitars since yesterday.

The ESP guitars are made of solid mahogany wood. He explained to me about its various features. I only pretended that I understood. However, I too read the reviews that showed he chose the right guitar though it is definitely beyond his budget.

Happy tunes son!

Why choose Martin X series acoustic guitars?

No, I was not surprised to find an acoustic guitar of martin x series in a teenager’s room. After all, still many youth like to play guitar just to impress girls. When I first saw the guitar with pictures on its body, I thought it looked odd.
Seeing my raised eyebrows, my relative’s son sheepishly admitted that it is a peculiar choice that many would not approve. The dust on the guitar suggested that it was not touched for some time.

Since my son plays guitar, I picked up bits and pieces about guitars. I remember him mentioning Martin X series acoustic guitar before.  The company that makes them is nearly 180 years old! That must be a highly regarded qualification by the peers of musicians.

I personally feels one must think of an investment when buying a guitar. Beginners should not choose something cheap under the pretext of not using it after learning. When you buy a good acoustic guitar, it would make you to persist with your practice.

What type of guitars are suitable for learners.

That someone who had been teaching guitars for over a decade was found to be wanting in suggesting what types of guitars are suitable for learners. My disapproval was obvious when my son told me that he knew someone who is good at teaching guitars and keyboards.
I asked my son what the teacher’s name was so that I could inquire around. What I gathered did not impress me. Since my son insisted, I choose him as his guru. In addition, the music teacher’s proximity to my house stood in his favor.
As per his musician’s suggestion, my son bought his first learner’s guitar which has now taken refuge in the garage attic. Being a self learner, he soon learnt all about guitars and essential accessories.
In exactly 7 months after he joined guitar learning, he performed before a small group of audience.
